American Institutions
Pols 1100-048, Spring 2013
Personal Refection
I am finishing my general education requirements here at SLCC and was still in need of my American Institutions credit. I decided to taker US Government and Politics because I have always been interested in political science and wanted to gain a better understanding of how our government works.
Before I took this course I viewed our political system as out of date and out of touch. People grasp so hard to the Constitution and its fundamental truth in our society that they don’t think about the fact that this document is 200 years old and many things have changed since then.
After taking this case I understand a little better how some people love this country and their freedom so much that they will always stand up for the Constitution and their rights. I don’t see this as a bad thing. I just think that everyone needs to actually read and understand what the document actually says instead of just saying that they are entitled to certain rights because someone told them they are.
From now on I will try and respect everyone’s rights and ideas more. When it comes down to it we are all Americans and deserve what our forefathers fought for.
Here are copies of our two biggest assignments for the semester. The first is my quantitative literacy reflection and the second is my persuasive essay.
